Telethon 2026 Passes $100 Million For The First Time

So Perth - Mon, 10/19/2026 - 13:04

The Channel 7 Telethon raised $101,277,705 over the weekend, Seven West Media said after 26 hours of live broadcasting from RAC Arena. It’s the first time the total has passed $100 million, and it’s more than $11 million up on last year’s record of $90.16 million. The State Government donated a record $18 million, its fifth consecutive record donation.

“Every child deserves access to the care and support they need, no matter where they live or what challenges they face,” said Premier Roger Cook.

“Whether it’s vital medical equipment, specialist programs or life-changing research, this funding will make a real difference to sick children and their families for years to come.”

“Western Australians always dig deep for Telethon, and I’m incredibly proud to see people right across our State once again opening their hearts and giving what they can.”

“Telethon is a Western Australian institution. Generations of us have grown up with it, whether that’s calling the phone room, putting some pocket money in a collection tin, or watching the tally climb over the weekend.”

The State Government’s donation is up from $14 million last year, and the Federal Government has committed $6 million to the Channel 7 Telethon Trust for 2026. The State money funds equipment, services, programs, and medical research for children, and Telethon supports 147 beneficiaries this year.

“I’ve seen firsthand the meaningful impact your donations are having at Perth Children’s Hospital, ensuring our children continue to have access to nation-leading care,” said Health Minister Meredith Hammat.

“Your generous donations will help WA children today and also benefit the many generations of future West Australians to come.”

The Telethon Ball raised $25 million on its own, and Channel 7 commentator and former AFL player Kane Cornes raised $649,013 by running two marathons in five days.

Before the weekend, we asked the $100 million question, when the trend of recent years pointed to about $96 million. Seven says Telethon has now raised more than $879 million since it began in 1968.

A World-Premiere Dinosaur Exhibition With A Five-Metre Flying Reptile Is Coming To Perth

So Perth - Mon, 10/19/2026 - 12:48

Dinosaurs Uncovered, a world-premiere dinosaur exhibition from the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, opens at WA Museum Boola Bardip on November 21st and runs until April 26th next year. Tickets go on sale this week.

“WA Museum Boola Bardip continues to deliver world-class experiences, and Dinosaurs Uncovered is the latest example. This world-premiere exhibition combines real fossils all the way from Los Angeles along with cutting-edge technology and immersive storytelling,” said Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk.

“Dinosaurs Uncovered will inspire curiosity, promote science discovery, and provide a memorable experience for families, visitors and dinosaur enthusiasts.”

The exhibition includes a full-sized reconstruction of Quetzalcoatlus northropi, a flying reptile that stands about five metres tall. It’s joined by skeletal reconstructions of a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex and a Plotosaurus, along with interactive fossil dig sites.

Late Nights at Boola Bardip, the museum’s adults-only Friday night series, runs weekly through the season with a changing mix of live music, short talks, and performances, and includes after-hours entry to the exhibition.

How to get tickets

WA Museum members get presale access from tomorrow, and general sale opens on October 22nd through the WA Museum. Standard tickets are $30.00, concession tickets are $25.00, and junior tickets are $20.00. Children aged four and under get in free.

The museum is in the Perth Cultural Centre, a 200-metre walk from Perth train station, so catch the train if you can.
